Latest Fuel Prices in Pakistan Today (July 2026 Update)
Following
the recent easing of global oil supplies and the stabilization of the
international crude market, the Government of Pakistan has announced a welcome
reduction in petroleum prices.
Current Petroleum Rates (As of July 4, 2026)
The table below outlines the revised ex-depot
prices for major petroleum products across Pakistan:
|
Fuel
Type |
New
Price (Rs/Litre) |
Price
Change |
|
Petrol (Super) |
Rs. 297.53 |
▼ Rs. 1.97 |
|
High-Speed Diesel (HSD) |
Rs. 309.50 |
▼ Rs. 1.97 |
(Note:
Prices may vary slightly in far-flung regions like Gilgit-Baltistan and parts
of Balochistan due to additional inland freight margins.)
Why Did the Prices Drop?
The
continuous decline in local fuel rates is directly tied to positive shifts in
the global energy market.
However,
following a recent ceasefire in the Middle East and improved global crude
supplies, international Free-on-Board (FOB) costs have dropped significantly.
Adjustments in Government Levies
To maintain price stability leading up to
this drop, the government recently restructured its tax components at the start
of the new fiscal year on July 1, 2026:
·
Climate Support Levy (CSL):
Increased by Rs. 2.50 to stand at Rs. 5.00 per litre for both petrol and HSD.
·
Petroleum Development Levy (PDL):
Simultaneously reduced by Rs. 2.50 to offset the CSL increase. The PDL now
stands at Rs. 64.14 per litre for petrol
and Rs. 77.04 per litre
for diesel.
By balancing these levies, the government
managed to pass on the benefits of dropping global crude oil prices directly to
the public without heavily compromising its tax revenue targets.
