Petrol Price Decreases in Pakistan: Latest Fuel Rates (August 2026)

Petrol Price Decreased in Pakistan: Latest Fuel Rates Update (August 2026)

Motorists across Pakistan can breathe a sigh of relief as the federal government has officially announced a reduction in petroleum prices. In a recent notification from the Ministry of Energy and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the petrol price in Pakistan has been slashed, offering a much-needed financial break for daily commuters and the transport sector.

This recent adjustment is a direct reflection of the global oil market dynamics and Pakistan's petroleum pricing mechanism. Here is everything you need to know about the newly reduced petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) rates for August 2026.

Current Fuel Prices in Pakistan (Effective August 8, 2026)

According to the latest government notification, the price of Motor Spirit (petrol) saw a decrease of Rs 2.20 per litre, while High-Speed Diesel (HSD) was reduced by Rs 1.50 per litre.

Here are the revised retail prices:

Fuel Type

Previous Price

Price Cut

New Price (PKR / Litre)

Petrol (Super)

Rs. 329.82

- Rs. 2.20

Rs. 327.62

High-Speed Diesel (HSD)

Rs. 382.36

- Rs. 1.50

Rs. 380.86

Note: These ex-depot prices are standard across major Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) throughout Pakistan, though minor freight variations may apply depending on your distance from major supply hubs like Karachi.

Why Did the Government Decrease Fuel Prices?

The recent cut in the petrol price in Pakistan is primarily driven by the government's pricing mechanism, which continuously adjusts local rates in accordance with international oil market trends.

1.     International Oil Markets: Global Brent Crude and refined product prices have seen slight downward corrections recently.

2.     Daily Pricing Mechanism: The government recently shifted to a more frequent, daily fuel price review mechanism to ensure market volatility is immediately passed down to the consumer without major delays.

Despite this relief, it's worth noting that the government still maintains a high Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) on petroleum products.

Impact on Commuters and Transporters

While a reduction of Rs 2.20 and Rs 1.50 might seem marginal to some, it creates a positive ripple effect. Petrol is predominantly used by private vehicles and two-wheelers, directly easing the burden on the middle class. Meanwhile, High-Speed Diesel (HSD) powers the heavy transport and agricultural sectors; any reduction here helps stabilize the inflation attached to the transport of daily goods and produce.

The 8GB Immortal: Is the RX 590 Still Worth It in 2026?

The AMD Radeon RX 590 is the "undead" champion of the Polaris era. Released in late 2018 as a 12nm "last hurrah" for the architecture, it was essentially a factory-overclocked RX 580 on steroids. Now that we are in 2026 , the RX 590 has transitioned from a mid-range workhorse to a legendary budget relic. If you’re still rocking one—or considering picking up a used "Fatboy" for a ultra-budget build—here is how it stands in the current landscape. Performance: The 1080p Reality Check In 2026, the RX 590 is no longer the 1440p contender it once claimed to be. However, its 8GB of VRAM has aged like fine wine, keeping it relevant while many of its 4GB and 6GB contemporaries (like the GTX 1060 or 1660) have fallen into obsolescence. How to Make Your eMMC Storage Phone Faster: 7 Proven Fixes

How to Make Your eMMC Storage Phone Fast To make an eMMC storage phone fast, you must reduce the number of read/write operations and free up space. The fastest fixes include keeping at least 20% of your internal storage empty, switching to "Lite" apps, clearing cached data, and moving large media files to an external SD card or cloud storage. Why Is eMMC Storage Slow? eMMC (embedded Multi-Media Controller) is an older, budget-friendly flash storage technology commonly found in entry-level and mid-range smartphones. Unlike the newer UFS (Universal Flash Storage) which can read and write data simultaneously, eMMC processes tasks one at a time (half-duplex). When your phone tries to update an app, download a file, and load a game at the same time, an eMMC drive creates a bottleneck, resulting in lag, stutters, and slow app launch times. According to flash storage benchmarks, an eMMC 5.1 drive has a maximum sequential read speed of roughly 250 MB/s, while even an older ...
